Telephone-Networking-Intercom System

What to Consider

Communications is more than just telephone service.  In considering all of the communications options for your home, you will begin to see how easy it is, through the use of a structured wiring system to change what services you need throughout your home.

While land lines or plain old telephone service is declining because of cellular capabilities, there is still a need to have it available for fax machines and modems.

Networking throughout the home is probably the biggest drive for a properly installed wiring system.  Not only does your computer, and game station need network service, but so does the latest video devices, like your satellite receiver, blue-ray player and even some new TVs. Also, many security products will make use of your home network. While wireless can provide some of the mobile communications, most devices are looking for a RJ45 network connection.

Intercom systems have come a long way. Depending on the need, there are the standard wall mounts units, units that integrate whole home audio, to systems that use your telephone. Each of these types of units come with different features/benefits and costs. Most of these units really become great conveniences when you have a couple levels and over 2500 sq ft of living space.
